When Typhoon Tino brought unexpected challenges to several communities in Cebu, many families found themselves seeking a safe space away from rising waters and unstable surroundings. Dominican School of Cebu, together with the Consolacion LGU, responded by opening the school gym as a temporary shelter for families who needed immediate protection and support.
The gym accommodated an estimated 124 families, offering them a secure and orderly space while waiting for conditions in their respective communities to improve. With the combined efforts of school personnel, volunteers, and representatives from the Consolacion LGU, evacuees were guided, assisted, and given reassurance throughout their stay. The coordinated presence of both the school and the LGU created an atmosphere of calm and care, helping families find comfort during an uncertain time.
The collaboration continued even after families began returning to their barangays. Dominican School of Cebu and the LGU remained attentive to their situation, keeping communication open and ensuring that the transition back to their homes was safe and manageable. This ongoing support highlighted the strength of community partnership and the genuine concern extended to every family affected by the typhoon.
Dominican School of Cebu expresses its heartfelt appreciation to the Consolacion LGU, volunteers, and everyone who contributed time and effort. Their unity and compassion turned the temporary shelter into more than just a place to stay. It became a symbol of hope, solidarity, and shared responsibility.
The school remains steadfast in its mission to extend care to the community, standing ready to offer support whenever the need arises.
